Here is the last of TBC's Nothing Syndrome series discussion questions for the Small Group studies:
----------------
The Scripture reading comes from Luke 10: 25 – 37
Why are the two Laws, “Love God with all your heart, mind and strength(1) and Love your Neighbor as yourself(2)” always given in that order when grouped together?
(1) Deut. 6:5 (2) Leviticus 19:18
Discuss, in as much detail as time allows for your group size, what “doing good” entails.
It is an eventuality, that when discussing “doing good,” we must come to a point where doing good means to do good to someone, or doing good for somebody. It may be directly to God, Himself, or to our neighbor. Why is that?
Have everyone in your Small Group read together Micah 6:8:
“He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?”
Humanity is made in the image of God, and is therefore holy. Besides the sacraments, your neighbor is the holiest “thing” you are ever likely to come across this side of heaven. According to the Bible, what is the highest form of worshiping our Lord?
SERVE/SHARE - APPLICATION:
Go this week and sacrifice. Sacrifice your time, your feelings, your pride for someone else. Forgive someone who needs forgiving. Visit someone who is lonely. Smile at the one who gives you a dirty look. Share some visible ways in which to show the incredible love of the invisible God to your very visible neighbor.
Remember the Good Samaritan. “Go and do likewise.”
