Matthew 24:26, 27
"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man."
Again Matthew 24:36-44
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left."Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
It breaks my heart to have a non-believing friend show this to me and question "Bible believing Christians" as though one bad apple made all fruit disagreeable. He is right though, the doomsayers mar the face of my God. Any religious group that claims to know this day is, Biblically, automatically considered FALSE. Some have even done it more than twice, like the Jehovah's Witnesses, not having learned their lesson the first time.
Lord, we pray for those poor souls caught up in this.
Amen.

Sigh...why can't people judge us for the good we've done, or the way the vast majority of us act rather than for the few fruit-loops that you find in every organisation? After all, we don't think all doctors are bad if one is caught doing the wrong thing!
I think non-believers want reasons to cling to their disbelief, and so they seize on these instances to write off all "religious" people as nutters. What should we do about it? All we can do is try our best to live a life that glorifies God. The rest is out of our hands.
